Sam and Jackson are our two furry loves. We rescued them about 3 months apart during our Junior year of college in late 2006/early 2007 while living in Auburn. Both were young adults already and looking for forever homes, and even though we hardly had two nickels to rub together, each of us took one into our apartments and committed ourselves to keeping them alive and happy. So far so good!
I must admit though, we don’t really do much with them outside of our home. But we recently acquired a fun Jeep Wrangler, and one of the specific reasons we got it was so that it could be our pup-mobile. This past Friday night, downtown Huntsville hosted an awesome Food Truck Rally (they are becoming a regular thing, getting better and better and bigger and bigger each time) so we took the top off the jeep, loaded the dogs, and headed that way.
Jackson needs jeep goggles. He kept his face in the wind and his eyelids would blow wide open. I kept trying to capture it but that was the best I could manage. It was hysterical.
Sam, however, prefers a different approach to riding around. Just, soak it in man.
When we got there, we grabbed some food and some beer and planted ourselves down in front of some live music. There were about 25 food trucks there on Friday, and one of our favorite, Neon Lilly, serves Russian Food.
It was spectacular weather with a great turn out! There were food trucks, multiple beer vendors set up, live music, and lots of crowd watching. We also walked the dogs down by the pond and let them lick their chops at some ducks and geese. Everywhere we went, everyone had to pet them and comment on Sam’s snowy face and Jackson’s brown feet. They sure know how to ham it up for strangers.
It was the first family of four date we’ve had in a long time! I’m really looking forward to next weekend too because we are taking our annual trip to BRG with all of our friends to stay in cabins at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, and we decided to take the pups! Very excited about having them with us during our little vacation. I’ll be sure to update my next entry with lots of pictures from that.
Hope everyone else’s weekend was just as sweet and meaningful.
We love our Birder Collie, “Luke.”
